Fair Trade Egypt

A Fair Trade organization member of WFTO, Fair Trade Egypt’s sales have been impacted by the events in Egypt. The organization seeks to resume its support to local artisans through exports, and launches a call to buyers who could be interested in imports countries.

Currently FTE is working with about 40 artisan groups located all over Egypt that translate into around 2,700 craft artisans, providing more than 1,000 quality fairly traded products. Product lines range between personal accessories, jewelry, home accessories and décor, fabrics, rugs and others.

The problem now is that 65% of FTE’s turnover is from its retail business in Egypt which has completely stopped since the revolution started and with best estimates will not resume to normal rate before few months from now. This is a situation that puts this small organization at threat of downsizing and huge loss of income for its artisans. It underlines that it is not giving up on the local market and will continue to mobilize efforts as possible but the number one savior would be to increase its exports for this year as possible. This is where it would like to call for your help.

Fair Trade Egypt invites you to visit its website www.fairtradeegypt.org or its Facebook page Fair Trade Egypt. If you are interested in these products (or similar ones cause not all photos are online) then FTE would like to ask you to prepare a kind of special support initiative by importing Egyptian Fair Trade products and present them in your outlets with special promotion.

If you would need more photos, our export manual or have any question then kindly email FTE’s marketing coordinator, Yara Elshennawy, at marketing@fairtradeegypt.org.
