Pierre William Johnson is an expert on issues pertaining to the transformation of the current-state economy to a resilient and sustainable economy. A member of the International Value Links Association, he is a senior international consultant on value chain chains studies and developement of natural products, high value products and products of origin. He is also an expert on Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit Sharing.
A researcher and author, with a systemic perspective, he gives keynote speeches in English, French and Spanish on topics related to transition, cooperation and bioeconomy.
Training
Pierre W. Johnson holds two Master’s Degree, the first in Applied Development in Developing Countries (1994), the second in Ecological Economics and Sustainable Development Engineering (2010). He has since completed complementary pratical trainings in Botanics, Agroecology and Permaculture.
Experience
P. W. Johnson has 23 years of experience in coordinating international development projects in Latin America (Mexico, Guatemala and Brasil), and support to the development of sustainable value chains in France, in Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Senegal, Tanzania) and in Asia (China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam).
With in-depth experience of issues related to the valorisation of local products, he supports the development of natural products, and carries out social and environmental audits as well as multi-criteria evaluations.
He has also acted as a mediator between stakeholders and as a facilitator of networks of actors in fair trade and social economy, and provided training on organic agriculture, sustainable development, fair trade and corporate social responsibility.
